BL-SH Investment Counsel, LLC was founded by Larry Sobel, an individual who has been in the investment and securities business for more than 30 years. Originally with the New York Stock Exchange member firm, Reynolds Securities, (now part of Morgan Stanley by way of Dean Witter), Mr. Sobel became a top producer in the firm's Los Angeles office. During this time, Mr. Sobel was invited to appear on the Regis Philbin Show, and subsequently co-hosted an investment program on television sponsored by the then well known institutional firm, William Hutchinson & Co.

Mr. Sobel joined The Guardian Insurance Company in 1992 to organize and manage the equity and financial services department of the White Plains General Agency, one of the largest and most productive in The Guardian national distribution system. While there, he formed and managed the equity division of National Pension Service, which provided actuarial and tax planning for more than 1000 corporate pension plans, with assets of more than $500,000,000. During his three and one-half year tenure at The Guardian, from 1992 to 1995, Mr. Sobel grew the departmental annual equity sales from $11 MM to more than $62 MM.
